In the F-2 area, we focus on supporting students in the building blocks necessary to develop their knowledge and understanding of the relevant reading comprehension strategies to ensure success in their schooling.
Writing
Writing at Broadmeadows Primary School focuses on developing critical writing skills in our students. The English curriculum is built around the three interrelated strands of Language, Literature and Literacy. These strands develop understanding and knowledge in Writing. We participated in a pilot program to develop the Teaching and Learning Cycle. This program has been developed across our region and is now integrated in the teaching of writing at our school. Students build a range of knowledge about particular topics, learn the structure of the text type and draft their text according to their learning. This enables our students to develop their writing and learn different text structures and features along the way.
